A popular destination for folks in the Great Lakes is Canada's North Channel on the far northern end of Lake Huron just north of the worlds larges fresh water island ( Manitoulin Island, Ontario). There are a number of spots that are far more shallow than the charts indicate.
1. Shallow spot at the end of the French Island Chain west of Blind River, Onterio between LaSalle and Tonty Island.
Lets get some more in here for the North Channel as folks really seem to hit
these spots some may be on the charts already.
I do enjoy the North Channel although the last time I was there was in 2001. We started the year aboard our trawler in Muskegon, MI worked our way up the east coast of Lake Michigan, made the mandatory visit to Mackinaw, and continued to the Sioux Locks with the expectations of doing a bit of Superiors South Shore. We had boated much of the Lake previously but this trip the wind would just not die! We waited over a week and turned East along the Northern edge of the lakes following the Canadian shore until we got to the 30,000 islands and beyond. Cleared thru Canada's customs along the St Lawrence, after a week in Montreol, at 9AM 9/11/01.
I have a picture that I took while anchored in the north channel on board our 268 Sea Ray of a rather stately evergreen all in shadow as the sun was setting. Love that shot!
