Hi Joe,
I would suggest asking your question in the Ask a Pro section of SailAngle. Maybe there is also someone in here who can assist.
Best,
Justin
Hello Everyone. I have a problem that I have to believe has affected anyone who has ever own a boat. A rusted bolt. This particular bolt is the one that secures my alternator. It is a through bolt that goes through a radius boss on the engine, through a hole in the outer case of the alternator and is secured at the other end with a nut and washer. I managed to get the nut and washer off, but cannot budge the bolt. It is secured tightly to the boss. I have tried penetrating oil, a corrision breaker spray of sorts, Tried to turn the bolt, I have just about managed to round off the hex sides. It is hard to tell, but it looks like the washer is integral with the bolt head. But like I said with the rust and paint it is hard to tell.
Any suggestions on how to free my alternator would be helpful. I have to get it (alternator) to the shop to have it replaced or rebuilt.
Thanks
