Mike grew up in Maine and his family has been involved in both commercial and recreational boating for as long as he can remember. In addition to being a professional sailor, he is a skilled carpenter and a licensed contractor, having built several homes in Maine.
Mike has 17 years experience as a professional mariner and enjoys both cruising and racing. He has sailed extensively along the East coast of the United States and the Caribbean, and has participated in many racing regattas including the Heineken, the New York Yacht Club Sail Week, Newport to Bermuda and most recently as the helmsman on Tenascious, the 37.4 meter Hood design for the Antigua Superyacht Cup for 2008. He was also on the helm of Tenascious for the Shipyard Cup in Boothbay Harbor. Mike also has extensive experience in Classic yacht racing as crew on Ticonderoga, Velsheda, Marilee and more.
