Captain Gordon Hartschuh hails from the Buckeye State of Ohio and has been boating in the Great Lakes region since he built his first homemade paddle boat at the age of 14. Living on Kelley's Island during his high school summers fueled his love and interest in boating on the Great Lakes.
Gordon attended the University of Akron, acquiring degrees in Fire Science Technology, Electronics Technology, and a Bachelors Degree in Technical Education. During college he bought his first sport fishing boat and was fortunate enough to travel the inland waterways fishing and enjoying the best of America's heartland.
Trailer boating over the years has allowed Gordon to boat in 39 U.S. states and Canadian provinces of North America, while continuing to boat the Great Lakes. More recent years have allowed him and his wife Sue to cruise the Great Lakes with their good friends on comfortable cruising sailboats. He is currently working as a USCG Captain of passenger ferries in the western basin area of Lake Erie.
