Many boat insurance companies will offer discounts on boating insurance to boaters who successfully complete America's Boating Course.And, this beginner boating class will give you the knowledge needed to obtain a boat license or safety certification in many states.
America's Boating Course. can be taken in any of three ways: on the Internet, by studying a 244-page course manual, or with a CD. No matter how you like to learn, when you sign up you'll receive a complete package that includes the course manual, the boating course CD, and a PIN number giving you access to the Internet course.

The USPS Seamanship Online Course (Open Enrolment)
Building on the basics of recreational boating presented in the public boating courses, Seamanship adds foundational information for continuing boater education. The course contents should facilitate knowledge development for increased safe operation of recreational boats and provide the basis for completion of USCG licensing examination. Emphasis within the course has been placed on higher level boating skills, rules of the road, and marlinspike. This course lasts approximately 8 weeks or 24 hoursof class time. BoatUS Foundation Courseline
Boating education is a critical part of responsible boating. Since 1984, the BoatUS Foundation has been providing the Courseline as a free service to boaters, supplying information on boating safety courses offered around the nation via our website. Simply enter your zip code or select your state and city on our search page to search available courses in your area.
Most of the courses in our database are instructed by volunteers. In some cases, a nominal fee may be collected to cover materials. Additionally, there are courses offered by participating state agencies and private course providers. To find out more about courses offered, look in Course Descriptions.
You can also contact an instructor in your area to get information on arranging a Vessel Safety Check through the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the U.S. Power Squadrons!
