Q:   What is the difference between Group Message and Group Forum Message?

A:   There are two different types of messages that can be sent from a Group (for USPS groups see the special exceptions below)

Group Message: is a message sent from ONE to MANY

In a Group, any member of the group can originate a Group Message. When sent, it goes from the individual to ALL members of the group. Normally, it is used to notify the membership of the Group and replies are not generally required.

  1. When sent, all members of the Group will receive notification of the message in their external email as follows: "Group Message from First Name Last Name" followed by a clickable direct link to the message.
  2. If you closed your browser on your last visit to SailAngle.com instead of Signing Out, clicking on the message link will take you directly to the message. If not, you must log in first.
  3. After reading the message, clicking on "Reply" will send your response to the originator of the message.
  4. After reading the message, clicking on "Reply ALL" will send your response to the originator and ALL other members of the Group.
  5. IMPORTANT! Be careful about using the "Reply ALL" button as ALL members will receive your response.

Group Forum Message: is also a message sent from ONE to MANY

In a Group, any member of the group can originate a Group Forum Message. When send, it goes from the individual to ALL members of the group AND simultaneously posts in the Group Forum. Normally, it is used when group member feedback and discussion is requested.

  1. When sent, all members of the Group will receive notification of the message in their external email as follows: "Group Forum Message for First Name Last Name" followed by a clickable direct link to the message.
  2. If you closed your browser on your last visit to SailAngle.com instead of Signing Out, clicking on the link will take you directly to the message. If not, you must log in first.
  3. After reading the message, clicking on "Reply" will send your response to the originator of the message AND simultaneously post your response in the Group Forum for all members to read.
  4. IMPORTANT! This is the preferred method of responding to all members. The Group Forum Message is essentially a "Forum" discussion and the email notifications are minimized.

USPS Group Messaging Options:

the same Group Message and Group Forum Message are available in USPS Groups with the following exceptions:
